| Orchestra Boosters
Parents of Orchestra students are members of the Boosters. There is no fee collected by the Orchestra Boosters. It is free! The Boosters make sure that the Directors are supported with secretarial assistance (making copies for distribution, inventory, etc.) and that funds are available to cover expenses and equipment not provided by the school district. Our volunteerism enhances the experience of all PCCS orchestra students and supports them as they learn and grow in their musical education.
The Orchestras perform many times through the year. Often the Orchestras travel for performances out of the area. The Boosters help subsidize travel expenditures and provide miscellaneous perks for those performances or additional practices. The Boosters also fund enrichment and musicality workshops for the students. The Boosters provide the website service to the community, ensuring that Orchestra families are int the know. The website makes news and forms easily available and accessible. The Boosters publish a Commemorative Program in time for the Spring Pops Concert. It is specifically designed to highlight seniors and their music careers at the Park.
Boosters raise funds in the school year through Scrip (gift card sales), CafePress merchandise sales, Borders and restaurant fundraisers, and concert raffle prize drawings.
In addition, the Canton Community Foundation maintains a supplemental fund for the PCCS Orchestras. Donations made to the CCF are tax-deductible. The Orchestra Director is able to use those funds for instrumental repairs, replacements and for purchasing instrument storage systems. Send your tax-deductible contributions as often as you wish to:
Canton Community Foundation, 50430 School House Road, Suite 200 ,Canton, MI 48187 Make your check payable to Canton Community Foundation; note PCCS Orchestra Boosters on the memo line
Members of the Boosters help in the Orchestra Director’s office, sell concert tickets, organize and contribute to the concert afterglows, sell fundraising items, chaperone trips, and work on special projects. It is a rewarding and painless effort. Please offer to help at one or more events or concerts.
Generally, the Orchestra Booster Board meets on the first Tuesday of the month in September, October, December, January, March and May from 7:30-9:00 PM in the Orchestra room of the Canton High School North building. The meetings are open – please come to share your ideas and energy with other parents of the Orchestra students. The Booster Board members would like to get to know you better!
